Martin Mischkulnig - Smalltown

This exhibition coincides with the 2009 Penguin publication 'Smalltown', by Tim Winton and Martin Mischkulnig and the exhibition of the same name at the Museum of Sydney, 10 October 2009 - 14 February 2010. The series of photographs capture an image of Australia that is neither postcard typical or bleakly cynical. The small towns of Western Australia and Martin's native South Australia, are neither thriving cosmopolitan metropolises nor vacuous cultural backwaters. Martin's eye has captured the rugged images of what might be remote, but honest communities.
